Seychelles, 3 Jan 2010: The baton will start its Indian Ocean voyage when it will arrive in Seychelles on 3 January 2010. There will be a welcome ceremony on its arrival at Mahe airport. On 4 January 2010, the baton will participate in a 50 kilometre relay in Mahe covering five districts with short cultural activities in each district followed by a visit to the famous Clock Tower.
On 5 January 2010, there will be a 10 kilometre relay in Praslin and visit to International World Heritage site “Valle De Mai” - Garden of the world’s largest Nut.
Seychelles is an archipelago nation of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, some 1,500 kilometres east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island of Madagascar. Other nearby island countries and territories include Zanzibar to the west, Mauritius and Réunion to the south, Comoros and Mayotte to the southwest. The Seychelles has the smallest population of any African state.
Seychelles is participating in all Commonwealth Games since 1990 Games held in Auckland, New Zealand.
